The family you choose for yourself {who you spend the rest of your life with, your children, spuse}, not your natural born family {the family of your parents/siblings }.

Yes family is the most important thing in the context that it is the foundation of society. However, with that said, family is not necessarily the most important thing if individual members are not supportive of each other. There is your biological family, to whom you are a member through relationship. There is also your chosen family, whom you select to be a member. It would be awesome if there are some congruence between these two families. Realizing that just because you are realted, you are not obligated to life your life under someone else's pretences will set you free. Be who you are, define your own family!

Yes...I suppose. I think of love being the most important thing - the commitment one has to another person. That is often found in family, of course. You must also define for yourself what you consider your family. Family can be your blood relations, or those dear friends who you care deeply about. So, yes. Family is very important.

No, I don't, you choose your friends, your family is inflicted upon you without choice.
It is fantastic if you have a supportive family who love you, that do not turn against you for what you are, or the choices you make in life.
There are many people who are not in that position, they may have to stay with a family that abuses or victimises them, feeling they have no choice.
There are also those that have been abandoned by their family, discarded as not right for a variety of reasons.
Your question appears reasonable, I do not know your reasons for asking, but you could have put your reason for asking, you question could be very upsetting for some.

I do believe that family is very important. There could be many reasons why one person would ask this question. And how an answer could be so different.

The family you were born into is not necessarily the most important thing; it can be, but it doesn't have to be.
