You dont need to have a tech license in order to become a pharmacist. Although this will only help you.

Pharmacy has a lot of advantages such as

1) Faster to finish than med school

2) Most jobs are 9-5

3) You can literally get a job anywhere in the US

4) You will have time to start a family

5) Most starting jobs pay around 75-150k depending on location and need.

You dont need to be certified to become a pharmacy technician. You get certified only if your state requires it or you want to make more money. It's a good idea to work as a pharmacy tech b/f and during pharmacy school (the sooner u start the better cuz it really helps when you're in school)while you not in the busy schedule of pharmacy students its best to get all your training b/f you start the professional program which is the toughest part of the 6 yrs of pharmacy school. When u are in the program you're going to automatically be a pharmacy intern (which is alot better than being a certified tech) you'll make more money as a intern depending on the pharmacy year you're in..for instance i'm a 5th year student, i get paid around $12/hr..and it'll go up about a dollar a year. If your 1 or 2 nd yrs you're prob going to get paid the same amount as anyother non-certified technicians.
Hint: Try to apply to pharmacy while you're in high school, b/c it is really competitive to get into the 4yr programs that some schools offer b/c so many end up choosing pharmacy during their college yrs.Hope this helps..and good luck with pharmacy school in the future!!

Since you are still in high school, you should look into the 6 year programs. They'll accept you direct from high school. You do not need to be a pharm tech to get into pharmacy school. If you do decide to work as a pharm tech, I would recommend you become certified because you'll be paid more.
The person on top of me is being paid quite low for her intern job. I'm in the same year, and I'm being paid $17 per hour.
