Handing back an exam or keeping it often times is left up to an individual professor. Some professors want to keep exams so that they don't have to make up all new exams every semester. By handing them back, that increases the likelihood that students will have seen previous exams. If a professor chooses to keep your exam, s/he has to keep it on file for a specified amount of time. Most universities have a policy regarding the amount of time a student has to contest a grade. If that time is one year after having taken a course, then the professor will have to keep the exam for a year.

In an suited international, pupils would take their tests and learn the errors so they're able to be taught extra. they might by no potential practice the tests to relatives, acquaintances or frat brothers. they might by no potential think of of adjusting an answer and claiming that the professor mis-study it. The professors would settle for a limiteless techniques so as that a query would by no potential must be repeated. pupils' families does no longer pour over the tests to locate the type to dispute with (or sue) the professor. we don't stay in an suited international. At my college, some professors keep old finals interior the library for the pupils to income and practice on.

This depends on the University. Many professors take them as they teach the course over many years and like to reuse an exam.

We usually hand them back after making copies of them. We do this because we always have a few students who try to change their answer and then claim they got the question correct.
