Uhhh, HORRIBLE, they would volume down a track mid song change tracks and volume back up and finish the track. My parents had a 6 foot long stereo, turntable in one end, tuner and 8 track in the other, the middle had sliding doors for record storage... HUGE, dark wood with bright red fuzz and faux wrought iron covering the speakers... This was some piece...

Ahhh yeahhh! My mom & dad had a stereo with an 8 track player. I think I was even in a car that had one. I remember the clicking sound it made when it went from the end of a song to another song. I bet people would've laughed or been in disbelief at an idea of a CD for music. The 8 track tapes I remember were Bob Seger & Eddie Rabbitt!!! I still like listening to both musicians!

Good times. Good times. :)

Great question!

I was little we had one in the car I think, I remember we had this red radio that had an 8 track player.

I was alive for about 6 or 7 years before cassette tapes. It may have been a little longer

my parents had horrible stuff like Neild Diamond and Ann Murray, but we had good Christmas tunes.

Yes I remember the 8 tracks, very well. In fact I myself went on a personal quest to get those demonic music players out of peoples homes, now I wish I had never done that! They don't scratch up like these so called new technology Cd's that are out today!
8 Tracks RAWK!!!

What do you mean was? I still have a player/recorder. Of course tapes are impossible to get anymore...the ones you get at Goodwill or where ever are really in terrible shape. Now since or if you remember the 8-track, do you remember having to shove a matchbook cover to shim the tape up a bit to adjust the way it hits the heads?

I remember them, maybe not very well, but I do remember them. My dad still has an old reel-to-reel with the 8-track player on the side.

I do! I used to play with those when I was a kid, my dad still has his! I actually still remember my favourite 8-track tape was Rush's Fly By Night....it was blue with the owl on it! Nothing like having 4 sides to a tape.......nothing else has ever pulled that off.

Yes I had them in my cars and we had it at home too.
The problem is the tapes were always getting caught and pulling apart. The little foam behind the tape deteriorated.
I did hear the Amish still had them in the buggies but that might have been a few years back too.
