I know I am probably going to get some reallly immature responses to this question but I have to ask anyway.
Are there othere Harry Potter fans out there who are over thirty? I am a great fan of the book series, not so much the movies and definatly not the hype but the books are great. They just capture the imagination and take me into a world that I wish really existed.

Also Since J.K. Rowling says she is done with HP would you read a book about HP as an adult written by a different author?

This is great so far...and I have learned a new term "fan-fic" yeah when you put it like that I wouldn't want to read anything referred to as "fan-fic" perhaps an writer that was given the permission and blessing of Mr. Rowling herself?

I'm 39 and I really enjoy the books. As for reading something by a different author - maybe. It would depend upon the author. I do read fanfiction, and while 90% of it is rubbish there are some good stories out there. Believe it or not, professional writers sometimes write fanfiction. For examples of good HP stories written by brilliant authors, try these:

I am 29 ( does that count =) love harry potter books, and yes I do read other HP based stories on fan fiction sites.

No I don't particularly care if the writer has anyones permission, and some of the stories are better than the actual book, because lets face it Rowling went in one direction after book 4 but there were other stories she could have developed.

Why would this be a problem? There are MANY adults who read Harry Potter. I enjoyed them a great deal. These books CREATED the Children's Lit Best Seller list because too many adult authors were honked off about "a book for kids" being on top. That's not the case... In fact, I feel like the last few books were geared more toward adults/teens than to children anyway.

Yes I am over 30, ( 39) a mother of three and I have been a big Harry Potter fan for years. I got my own kids into it. I have read sci fi and fantasy since I was about 11 as my genre of choice.
I am into science fiction and fantasy in general and I have read tons of books and I still really enjoy her series.
As a writer myself, I am not a fan of "fan-fic". I find it much better to have original ideas and I applaud others creations, but don't find fan - fic as creative.

Edit:
Yes, if it was done with Rowling's blessing / colaboration / approval, then I would say Go for it!

I'm 54 and I've read all the Harry Potter books. I bought them for my grand-daughter and ended up getting hooked on them myself. Yes, if J.K. Rowling gave her blessing to another author, I would read them. I only wish that J.K. Rowling would decide to write more HP books about his adulthood.

Yes, I am 30+ and a big fan of the Potter world. I have read each book several times, and also read plenty of fanfic.

www.siye.co.uk is a good site - I especially like some of the post-Deathly Hallows fanfics.

I am 34 and love Harry Potter. Acutally, I just now finished the last book. I know I was slow but work had me around the clock, so I just now got the time to read it straight through. Loved the way it ended, but I wish they would have named who the new headmaster at Hogwarts was.

My mother is 72 years old. She read all of the books. And, knowing my mom, she would definitely read anything else by her.
