Congratulations on making it to 38 weeks. I had the same problem, but I only made it to 34 weeks (but I had twins too). The choice is completely up to you.

I know many moms feel like they are cheated out of something if they have a C section. But you can make that a beautiful experience also! I promise!

If you go into labor and try a natural delivery, that can elevate your BP even more, which is a bit risky, and if the labor continues for too long, they may have you go in for a C section anyhow.

Sometimes recovery is a bit more difficult with a C section, but I did not have that experience. My friends who had a vaginal birth definitely had a longer recovery time than I did. But I've heard it both ways.

From personal experience, I would say go with a C, but that is definitely a decision you need to make.

Usually I'm not for inductions, but if there is a legitimate medical reason then I say yes, go ahead with the induction. Even if the baby is responding fine now that can change very quickly. Mostly, I think the Dr is looking at what is best for YOU, high BP can be very dangerous. Good luck and best wishes!!!

undoubtely C-section as the normal delivery can make your BP rise more and the doc wld then hve to switch over to an emergency c-section. I had same problem and was induced with high BP as 38 weeks. But doc had to pperform emergency C-section as my baby went into stress. So I wld always recommend a C-section if you have high BP, no matter if it is controlled with AlphaDopa too, you still have the tendency to hypertension. So please go in for a C-section, there is nothing scary about it, what is more important is your baby's health. Good Luck.

I talked to my wife who is a nurse and deals with trauma and she would know what could or could not happen to you and your baby! Do what is best for your health and your unborn child and take the c-section as soon as it is possible to do it safely! My wife deals with a lot of trauma and high risk health issues each and everyday. If you are on medication already for your high B/P you never know when things might get out of control with your B/P and risk your health and the health of your unborn child! Make sure you and your doctor are on the same level of understanding what might happen to both of you!! This is not something you want to mess with at all. You are in a high risk category for something going very wrong very quickly. If you understand all of that and the risk of the medication your on then do what you and your doctor agree is best for you and your baby at this time! It would be the c-section that is safe for the health of you and your unborn child.

I had high blood pressure throughout my entire pregnancy controlled with a medication that was considered unsafe. I was monitored closely by a high-risk OB and also given lots of ultrasounds to make sure the baby was developing okay. There is no reason you can't have a normal vaginal delivery just because you have high blood pressure. As long as your blood pressure is well-controlled and your doctor feels it's safe, go for it!

Why not wait and see when you are as close as possible. If you can go normal you will be better, after your child is born, it is much easier on your body to heal. You may not think so but it is.
