Since when do former Presidents run around the globe running off at the mouth about current administrations? This is not the way ANY other former Presidents have behaved. Reagan didn't do it. Bush (1) didn't do it. Like HE'S one to talk about Bush's foreign policies. Carter never had any foreign policies of his own! This idiot need to keep his fat peanut farmer mouth shut!

--- Open Letter To Jimmy Carter ---

Dear Former President James Earl Carter:

As you yourself have openly admitted, your Presidency was a disaster. You blundered your way through almost everything with that silly, annoying toothy grin that seemed to be perpetually carved onto your face.

Although you have proven to us all that you are an incompetent leader, you choose to find fault with people whose abilities dwarf your own. Dick Cheney has admirably carried out his duties in office, an accomplishment to which you certainly cannot lay claim.

If you had been re-elected, I have no doubt that the USSR would have continued their massive march towards global domination. Under your pitiable term in office, their power became frighteningly magnified.

And yet, with a record as terrible as your own, you somehow think you have the credibility to find fault with others? Please stop this ridiculous charade. These are major league players, and you weren't even qualified for the minor league.

When you criticize these people, you only invite the comparison between yourself and them. Let's face it; when you disparage other presidents, it is like Homer Simpson in a cape criticizing Superman.

A private citizen can say pretty much whatever he wants. Mr. Carter is a private citizen. Yes, he has the money and experience to go places and say things most of us do not. So , leave the old man alone. Let him enjoy his final years of life. Reagan didn't do it because he had a debilitating disease and his mind was not very sharp. In his final days he was drooling and in diapers for crying out loud! Bush Sr. does do it in some respects. He and Bill Clinton have worked together on a few causes where some may disagree as to the purpose of the cause. Some people are more outspoken than others. Past Presidents don't die the day after they leave office. They are still able to say and do what they think is good for America. Mr. Carter is doing and saying what he thinks is best. If one doesn't like it too bad.

"This is not the way ANY other former Presidents have behaved"? I beg to differ. Gerald Ford had some fairly scathing comments, on tape, concerning this administration, Donald Rumsfeld and Iraq. True, he passed away before they were released, but still the comments were intentionally taped.

I also have never had any foreign policies of my own. However, like Carter I am a citizen of the United States of America. Therefore, like Carter I have the right to voice my opinion as to the lack of any coherent policy in place at this time. I do so without the immature slurs you use.

I was in the United States Army from 1976 till 1980. When I first went in we had some type of training every month...qualification with the M16 etc....about a year and a half into his presidency all that stopped....I didn't see an M16 for the last 2 yrs..I was told they had to save the ammo for the new recruits.....barracks falling apart...moral rock bottom....I was in Panama when he gave away the canal Zone and later the canal....now we have Chinese owning property on both ends of the canal....gas lines, double digit interest rates and inflation...the USSR was growing and influencing most parts of the world and he did NOTHING to stop it...I feel that America was on the verge of collapse. For this failure of a man to criticize ANYONE is beyond the pale...NOT only was he a failure at running the nation, but he is also a failure at being a Christian....he has no ability to discern truth from fiction and spews lies that are meant to hurt this nation!!....he is anti Semitic which flys in the face of true Christianity....he is a pathetic little man that needs to truly humble himself and SHUT UP!!

in my opinion, I favor they could say and do more desirable. George W. Bush is the worst president in heritage. Carter is not any chum of fascists -- you obviously understand not something about the guy. And we had 8 large years lower than Clinton. declaring he led to 9/11 repeatedly would not make it actual. With Bush, the adult adult males in the back of the worst attack on American soil are nevertheless not captured or killed. We invaded Iraq lower than pretend pretenses and no go out approach. Our international credibility is at an rock bottom. gasoline costs have skyrocketed at the same time as oil organizations are making record earnings. the dep.. of fatherland safe practices is a funds-sucking shaggy dog tale (at the same time as FEMA has been gutted and changed into criminally incompetent for the time of typhoon Katrina). international warming is getting worse, yet our cutting-edge administration pretends it would not exist. This united states is a mess. I actual don't have any difficulty with 2 of our actual wise former presidents speaking up and helping us be certain out a thanks to fix issues.

Carter didn't have any foreign policy of his own???? You mean he didn't start any unnecesary wars or piss off the whole world?
While Bush Jr. has destroyed our standing throughout the world, and broken the Geneva convention and international laws with his secret prisons, torture, pre-emptive wars - it's about time someone finally had the conviction to speak out. Carter has done more for world peace and humanity than any American in modern history. And he received the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of it. Bush Jr. will go down in history as the worst president of all time.

You're right . Carter is the only former president to openly chastise a current sitting president and his administration . A well-known 'No-No' of professional courtesy .

But don't give me BA , instead I vote for the one with Homer Simpson as the example !!

I'd guess he wants to be remembered with affection.
People many fondly remember JFK, Ron Reagan, Bill Clinton, George Bush (the first) but when someone is asked about Jimmie Carter, the response usually isn't too pleasant.

Well this is the first time we've had a president who is eroding civil liberties and weakening the constitution. Also, you have to understand that people get just a little ticked off when their "representative" continues to funnel THEIR tax dollars into a foreign war that the majority has made it clear that they don't support.

You have to understand, he is supposed to represent the will of the people. All that money he's funneling into the war could be well spend on...I dunno...helping the American people? There are a lot of problems here (education, the housing market, a weakening infrastructure, health care) that are getting short shrift. So, I think Carter is justified to get a little ticked off about these things. I know I am.

In the United States of old (Before Bush and Cheney), every citizen had the right to publicly state their opinion. If this right has been taken away we are not the country we should be. Also, there is only one set of facts. I believe President Carter has stated them correctly.
