D was a southerner in sympathy with slaveowning.
A, B and C were friends, all prominent New England abolitionists.

Thoreau, Emerson and Stowe all were quite vocal about their antislavery stance. I am not as familiar with Erwin so I would guess she did not write any anti-slavery works.
