They plucked their eye brows just like today.
They put soap on their legs and shaved with a razor that men used. Sometimes it was their husbands razor. (they didn't like it, either)
Their skin didn't really look any better than women today. Many did eat good foods which helped their skin a lot.
They used to sell Kotex in a box of 12, which was wrapped in brown paper because it was embarrassing to be seen with them. I remember asking my mother to write a note to give to the drug store man so I wouldn't have to ask for them. The brown paper told everybody what you had. Kotex only had one brand and one size.

Well in the old days, women still tweezed their brows or waxed them. Waxing has been around for a long time. Not sure for shaving legs. I assume they had some kind of razor to do that. Their skin was so flawless because they didn't eat all the preservatives that we do and didn't have all the pollution that we do. They were very simple and didn't do a lot to their face. A lot of times less is more. As far as the sanitary napkin, I think my mom told me at one time that they just used some toilet paper and made it thick to absorb it all or most of it. Hope this helps!!

The cycle and shaving questions have been accurately answered as has the tweezing. But the reason women seemed to have flawless skin was primarily because they were not undernourished like so many models and other women today. Women back in the fifties were easily ten to twenty pounds heavier than women today. They were more robust then.

I am not a woman but I grew up in the fifties with a Mom and three sisters.

Um, the 40s and 50s aren't THAT "old days". Women plucked their eyebrows with tweezers, shaved their legs with a razor, their skin was flawless because they ate a good diet and got more excercise than we do today, they used "Kotex" napkins that didn't have sticky strips, so they had to use this "girdle" type of thing that clipped to the napkin to hold it in place.

1. with an eyebrow-plucker (tweezers)
2. With a man's razor
3. It looked flawless, because they used face powder
4. Cottonwool pads called "sanitary towels"

With tweezers but they really didn't do so much of that.

Shaved legs with a mans usually double edge razor and shave cream

Skin..they didn't eat a much junk and put "cold Cream" Noxzema on face every nite, stayed out of the sun, wore hats to protect the face.

The only brand of pads was modes and they had to wear a belt to hold it on. Also they used rags. Yes rags. kept a buck with bleach and water in the bathroom with a lid on it. They washed them and used over and over. That is where the term "on the rag" came from. Glad I never had to do that YUCK.

Maybe they didn't remove hair. Their skin was flawless because they didn't eat so much junk food and beverages. I think sanitary napkins have been around a while or they just used rolled up material and washed it after use.

They didn't do all that stuff. They used rags for sanitary napkin. They keep their skin nice because they ate a balance diet. I remember.
