Maybe they want the child to make their own way in life.

Maybe they realize the child already has everything in life. Maybe they wanted to be funny like wanted the child to frame so people could ask about. Maybe the parent thought the child had lost sight of the actual value of a dollar. There are many different reasons.

Sounds like child didn't honor parent! Usually the parent feels the child has not stood worthy of the gift!

My father has a clause in his will that if either of us fuss or argue or contests the will that child gets $1.00 and everything else goes to the child who didn't contest or cause a problem. He said that he wasn't going to put up with us fighting "over his bones" as he calls it after he has passed.

if there is a lot of money it is because they want their child to understand something...
if is because they were poor...well it is better than nothing and means something
