my mum remarry 5 years ago and never managed to conceive. recently, an aunt gave my mum royal jelly to eat ( a special honey) and this is what happen......

my mum is 45 years old. her period is late this month. although she hadn't checked yet, she thinks she is pregnant.

i'm scared because i think she is old and my youngest brother is already 16. however, i don't really want to say this kind of things because i just don't want to spoil the happy mood if she really is pregnant.

i'm afraid it's dangerous for her health. or the baby. any opinion or true stories?

It can be perfectly fine!!! My youngest is now 18 months and I am 51. Dammed tiring, but with a supportive husband it CAN be done. There are more things to go wrong in pregnancy at her age, but presuming she is pretty fit and healthy, then no reason why everything shouldn't be fine.

The worst thing is the lack of sleep *yawn* especially when they aren't well and waking two or three times a night.

Good luck to her if its what she wants!!

I was married at 23 and had my twins at 24. got divorced and remarried when the twins were starting 7th grade. My daughter was not thrilled about the new baby we were having ( I would be 39 when she was born) My son really didn't seem to notice much.......... but then she was born and big sissy sure had a change of mind! My oldest daughter is like a second Mommy to her baby sister. I will be 40 in Nov and due again in MArch.

My doctor is cautious due to my age and the fact that I am overweight. I see a fetal medicine specialist on top of my regular doctor. WE monitor blood pressure and blood sugar as well as weight gain and everything else. Statistically older women are having great pregancnies and healthy babies with good prenantal care.

The truthis maybe she isn't pregnant. She could be starting menopause which can start anytime soon and mess up her cycle.
You wont conceive due to royal jelly...........it's just an old wives tale.
If she is pregnant she could be just fine if she sees a doctor right away and follows his orders the whole pregnancy.

She is aware of the risks. She is not a child. If she is pregnant let her bask in the glow for a while and even go with her to the Dr to have the opportunity to ask your questions.

Pregnancy for older women is always risky not only for the mother but the baby as well. There were research studies that gave report that children of older parents are susceptible to diseases,(weak immune system), mentally deficient , and has the tendency to develop emotional/psychological problems in later life.. This is also observable in plants..The older plants bear inferior quality fruits. However, this is just a general observation..It could be that your mom's pregnancy is an exception to the rule..

I always thought you CAN have babies up until you stop menstrating, which is usually when you are in your 60's depending on when you first started your period when you were younger.

It may cause a little more stress, i think, but it should be okay :) Dont worry and just be happy and try to help your mom through it :)

She will have to have some extra tests done due to her age, nothing major. Many women give birth at that age.
My only opion on it is if the body can handle it then go for it, my concern would be who would take care of the child long term as the parents age?

She is at a rather mature age to conceive.

She will have more problems carrying the baby and is at a higher risk for genetic defects.
