First off, I'm a Red Sox fan. I have seen a few games where decisions he's made I thought had a detrimental effect on the game, and that occurred about four times. The guy's managed what 1,100-something wins and 4 WS and 13 Post Seasons with the Yankees. They (Steinbrenner & Sons or Cashman) are absolutely retarded to let him go. Who the heck do they think they'll replace him with? Mattingly? Mattingly was a 1B, All-Star. Good Managers (of the caliber a Yankee Manager would need to be) are either Catchers or Pitchers, not First Basemen. I mean his first year there he managed a Word Series win... Another thing when we had that knuclkehead Dan Duquette he spent so much time blaming other people ... after a while there was nobody left to blame. The same thing will happen to Cashman (who looks like a typical New York City sleaze bag anyhow). Again, as a Red Sox fan, it's great news. I hope Torre goes to Texas, he can work some magic with them. He's a classy guy and he'll have a good future. Yank fans get ready for us to take many more Division Pennants now that you've just let the most experienced and argueably the best manager in baseball walk out the door.

Get off this "she has feelings" garbage. She is a baseball announcer! If she is that much of a fan that Torre getting fired (maybe) makes her cry, she needs to step down from her position. I mean, what will make her cry next, Mariano leaving for free agency. Will a mid season trade cause her emotional distress? The better question is - how the hell did she get hired in the first place??

I'm sorry, but if that was my mother, I would say, mom, get a grip! It's a game. Joe Torre did not DIE PEOPLE. She is a broadcaster and they are supposed to be professional and poised. When she announced that Roger Clemens signing, I thought I was going to puke and she even got ridiculed for that, but obviously she did not learn a thing from it. Even if it was a man, I would say the same thing. This is not a freak'n soap opera. Of course, she is a former actress, so I am not surprised she is so "dramatic". She gives all woman who strive to be a respectful and professional broadcaster a bad rap and takes them back a step in their quest to get chances to announce games.

First, Joe Torre is and always will be a class act wherever he works. He has a demi-god of an owner who sees nothing but the bottom line.
Broadcasters of Yankee baseball, whether local or national, will always have a "bend" towards New York. Witness Chip Carey's voice level whenever the Tribe had a good play or omigawd New York had an occasional hit (The Yankees are stunned, shocked, ad nauseum...). John Miller practically wet himself on radio in game three.

This woman is everything that professionalism isn't. There is no doubt that being a home team sports announcer, you are going to show home team bias, but in broadcasting, you need to always remain professional and keep the fan emotions inside of you in check and do your role to broadcast the game. She needs to be removed.

Women are like that, they empathize with people who are in shi tty situation. Suzyn Waldman is alright by me. She survived cancer, and used to be a star on broadway.

But cmon now, fckin steinbrenner is half dead, and won't give Torre the respect of finishing out his career with his head up. Yankee Stadium is only going to be around for 1 more year, at least let him be the last coach in the old stadium. Hall of famers deserve that much respect.

Everyone crys. Big Girls DO Cry. But, you dont cry when youre being listened to by hundreds of thousands of people. That is very unprofessinal.

If one of my very close friends had something going wrong with them or they were going to die I would cry. But I wouldnt do it in public. I would look like a idi**.

being home team biased is one thing.. but she is bad..

look at kieth hernandez and ron darling and gary cohen (i think) for a good team,, they actually PLAYED for the mets and they tell it how it is.. when the mets stink,, (often lately) they point it out.. so much that they are sometimes not welcome in the clubhouse..

It may have been one of the most hilarious things I have ever heard. You New Yorkers crack me up, you really do. What really splits my gut is that that you think everyone in the country is lying there losing sleep over Torre's uncertain future and crying like Suzy, but in truth we are laughing our behinds off. You and the national media (and Chip Carey should be canned -- "Here come the Yankees!" -- what a joke) have become a laughingstock. Keep it up, though, it's really great stuff.
