For aviation, if you want to be a pilot, then your best combo is the right education and access to flight time. I could see you doing well either via Embry Riddle, or via the Air Force. Although I'm thinking you'll have more access to flight time on the right machines via the Air Force, either could be a good choice, but note the following:

Depending on what field you plan to enter in aviation, I wouldn't necessarily recommend that you go directly into the Air Force after high school. A lot of the jobs they have, such as pilot, require you to have a bachelor's degree (in engineering!) prior to being considered. So it'd actually, in many circumstances, be better for you to either go to the Air Force Academy (link, below), or to find a regular university that offers Air Force ROTC, and go there. When you graduate, you'd enter the Air Force as an officer, and you'd be eligible to do the training to become a pilot or what have you. Not only that, but Air Force ROTC would pay for your schooling, and the Academy is tuition free, if you can get in.

So look at the Air Force careers pages, and see what is required of each career path. If you want to be a pilot or something else that requires a degree, then find a school with Air Force ROTC and do that degree there.
