If I invited you to Thanksgiving dinner,would you be upset if I used paper plates ?

If I were to invite you to Thanksgiving dinner and used (very nice decorative )paper plates,woulds you be upset and think it was tacky ?

lf l had the honor and privilage of being your invited guest.The only judgement l'd consider is the quality of the meal.Certainly not the plate it was served on.For the guests who feel it's tacky.Serve them thier sweet on a china plate.Humble Pie.Me l'll settle for your pleasure

For Thanksgiving we have gone to my parents or his parents so it's not all together. There's usually about a dozen people. We've never used paper plates. My mom doesn't even have a dishwasher but we use real plates. I don't see anything wrong with it (assuming this is a casual affair) but I can't imagine loading a flimsy paper plate with heavy turkey and dressing and fixings. How fast would gravy leak through? If they are really sturdy paper plates (like chinet) then it might work. I think the designs make it nicer than plain white too ;-)

Well Lynne, being from the uk I have never had the pleasure of attending a Thanksgiving dinner. I would say though that I believe it is a day of celebration and no one should make extra work for themselves. Paper plates along with your company should be acceptable to all.

Guests are there to see you, not inspect your china, and I'm sure you would rather be sharing a glass of wine and not the dishes after you've enjoyed your meal.

Not at all. They have some really pretty matching Thanksgiving plates, bowl, napkins, & tablecloths that look really nice on the dinner table. I've gone that route many times & my family never complained. It's a time to gather round the dinner table & give thanks, so who cares if paper products are used? It makes cleanup a lot easier as well, so the hostess can sit down, relax, & visit with her guests.

I would think nothing of the sort. If I was a guest in your home or anyone else, whatever placings, dinnerware etc. that one put out would be just fine. I have been known to use paper plates for Thanksgiving and Christmas. So much easier to throw out .

Good idea! We'd have to do that for Christmas dinner here in the UK coz we don't have a Thanksgiving day. The biggest arguments amongst famillies is the washing up....not ours coz we have whatever we fancy for Christmas dinner, if we fancy egg n chips then that's what we have! We stopped doing the roast turkey n all the trimmings type dinners years ago.

Nope - since I'd be up and helping with the clean up after the dinner I'd appreciate the ease of paper plates! Plus - you'd only have to run the dishwasher once, too!

sorry yes it would. as much as Christmas has become commercialized we sure don't need to commercialize Thanksgiving by eating on paper plates. break out the good china dishes, bring out the best glasses so we can have a toast, and no damn paper cups either, and positively no plastic forks and spoons.they have now days dish washers and if you don't have one guess you will have to gather a few volunteers to help clean up after dinner

nope sure wouldnt, i would be glad because instead of being stuck helping you do dishes we could relax and enjoy the day. Just do them a favor. Spend a lil extra and get the GOOD paper plates not the ones where your food will leak through and break in half LOL :)

Of course not. Actually, the high quality, decorative paper plates look much nicer than my chipped up, battered old china set anyway.
