Haha, ok it's a serious generalization and it's not in my character to generalize a whole group of fans, because let's face it, every team has their ignorant fans and bandwagon fans, and fans that are not knowledgeable, but so many people say that Yankee fans are not knowledgeable about the game.

I have seen so many answers saying that Torre should not be fired, etc...

Hey Yankee fans that think this, Torre will NOT be fired. He will not be retained by the Yankees if anything. But he finished out his contract and Steinbrenner is saying he will not re-sign him. That's not getting fired. And Yankee fans wonder why people think this way about them.

In all honesty, I've met and talked with a lot of devoted and knowledgeable Yankee fans, just not so much on Yahoo Answers.

Beautiful, intelligent answers so far (SARCASM)

The end result is the same, yes, agreed. But what makes Yankee fans seem dumb is this fact: Why do they think Torre should be re-signed?

I think Torre is an excellent manager, and a class act. However, the last two World Series appearances (2001, 2003) he lost. He hasn't made it to a World Series since 2003. He has had three straight first round exits now. And lately he has also had to overcome poor starts in order to make a late season run to catch Boston (2005, Yankees win the AL East the last weekend, 2007 Yankees win the wild card on a strong second half surge). Their record in April is dismal the last few years and that's not the way you want to start a season.

The first six years he was with the Yankees, fans and ownership couldn't be happier with 4 World Series championships. But after 12 years, the Yankees need a fresh voice, a fresh face, a new style. A new look and new direction. A new dynasty to be born.

I just wanted to point out that using the word "myself" in your opening makes that sentence sound pretty weird. You can't resist yourself? That sounds a little creepy to me.

You are right, though, that Torre isn't really being "fired" by the Yankees any more than are Posada, Rivera, or other possible free agents. His contract has run out, the same as the players, and it's the boss's decision as to whether he should be rehired.

Personally, I don't see why Yankees fans are so worried. I like Torre a lot, but the Yankees have won because of the collection of talent they've had, not because of anything Torre has done. He had a less-than-impressive record before coming to New York, and I believe that most managers could win with the players they've had.

Ok Cool,

Check this out.

I don't know what team you root for, but I know I hate the Yankees and there fans.

But.....

I do think that the Yankees have some of the greatest fans in the world, and they do know a lot about the sport, and the history of the game.

Have you ever been to Yankee staduim?

Talk with some of the people there.

You will see.

Is it his fault that his starting pitching decided to pitch a ton of half @ss pitches...All he needs to do is get his hands on some good SP and they're in it. By the waym you're first paragraph is a run-on sentence. You used "and" too many times. By your logic, that would make your brain the same size as a rat's.

The point is theres no reason to get rid of Torre. If you don't re-sign him its "letting him go". When you fire someone you "let them go". Seems pretty much the same to me. If this is what makes someone seem stupid to you, you would probably get in a fight with someone you saw in a mirror.

Like you said, your generalizing.

Being fired and not not being resigned is mere symantics. If his is not resigned, that's the same as being fired..
