start here to pick what country you're in, then follow to state/province, then city/town... or call 1-877-4LALECHE for help and local contact info.

for a real lactation consultant, you want to see the IBCLC credentials behind her name.. many are also RNs which is cool too... here's the organization who give them the credentials, hopefully they're all registered under this directory - enter your zip code: http://gotwww.net/ilca/

I think it's on the international website. (See link below) There is a bar just under the logo with a drop down menu for "Find Local Support".
When I lived in Houston, there was a number listed in the yellow pages, so depending on where you live, you may have some luck that way. I would also think the hospitals might know contact info, or even have their own breastfeeding coaches or consultants.

I breastfed both of my children, and I would be glad to tell you what I know, but I know that's not the same as a face-to-face consultant.

Good luck!

If you start here, and pick your country you will eventually get to the local phone number:
http://www.llli.org/webindex.html

In the US there is a 1-800 number: 1-877-4-LALECHE

There is also an e-mail, I will add if the webpage ever decides to load for me.

There's a contact us spot on there somehwhere. I emailed them before with a quesiton. It took them a few days to respond. So, if your question is something important - call your hospital. They have a LC on staff.
