A little rebuttal to Mr Taco
If I was in the front of a plane about to kill myself, I can see no political or financial gain from it....only a religious belief that I would be going to a better place. So religion killed a few plane loads of victims. People don't kill themselves to make their LIFE better only their AFTERLIFE.

Well if you mean, "in the name of religion" then for sure I would say religion or the concept of it, has killed more people than the other options. Since Jesus's actions have envoked the determination of darker energies they have 'encouraged' wars and killing all over the world. So the only way religion kills people is because of the struggle between good and evil. Example, In the last decade alone, there have been more than 6 million people killed in the struggle for spiritual control over this earth. Twila :)

Religion doesn't kill anyone. People kill people. In every supposed "religious" war ever fought, religion was never really the heart of the matter. Wars are fought over issues of power and control. In societies where religion was power, then yes, wars were fought over religion. But take religion out of the equation, and guess what? People would still be slaughtering other people over ideas and concepts, because controlling ideas and concepts equates to power and control. People are greedy. Religion-blaming, whether you believe in God or not, is lame at best.
