Joe Torre.... in his 12 year tenure with NY
Made the playoffs 12 times,
Won the American League East 10 times,
Won the American League Pennant 6 times
and the World Series 4 times.
Not too shabby for a guy who is about to lose his job for not winning enough times

Frank, who responded what has he done lately, well if is the case, there would be managers fired every year. Should the Braves fire Bobby Cox? Sounds like you are saying if you don't win World Series, you're fired. That would mean teams like the Tigers, Indians,Angels & others would have a manager every year. I realize it's been 7 years since the Yankees, not the Skankees won a title. What has your team done lately? Torre is one of the best managers in baseball, no matter what negative thing you say about him or the Yankees. The most popular team in all sports.

Torres Yankees were the highest paid team in the major leagues in the last 10 years. I would hope that the true baseball fans out there could see the failures, of the Yankee organization in the years they had the highest pay roll in baseball. How in the world could you blame Torre for those overpaid, underachievers they call Yankees.

You all are dionks..

Its what have you done for me lately in sports,,

Torree hasnt won squat in 7 years..

Sure he wins the division,, but he gets the highest payroll in the sport,, BY FAR!!!!

They get all the better draft picks because they are willing to spend the money on them.. and they get all the free agents for the same reason..

He is good at keeping his cool in new york and under george.. but he really isnt that great of a strategy manager,,

he is a manager in the right place at the right time..

your good ol boy joe torre has a record under .500 with his other teams.. yeah he is great.. real great,,

he is great when he has the highest payroll in beaseball.. and can buy any part the team needs.. but when he manages a lesser payroll team,, he sucks..

it would be like giving one nascar team leader twice as much money to spend on his cars,, and saying that he was the better leader because he won..

TORRE IS OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH and PS. I hate steinbrenner,, but he and his money ARE the reason the yankees are a great franchise..

you cant count the early years when there wasnt a draft,, and the players went wherever they wanted.. so those early champs dont count.. of course all the good players wanted to go to new york..

you skankee fans should bow to steinbrenner,, even though his attitude can be a detriment as well.. without his money you would all be the pirates ..

well buddy,, when you get the highest payroll in the sport by a mile,, your expected to win.. hands down,,

and i didnt say anything negative bout the yanks,, its torre.. he is an average manager,, who happens to be able to handel the pressure and media and steinbrenner in NY,, look at his dam numbers never was over .500 anywhere else..

and if steinbrenner (who i hate ) wants a new manager cause his team which he funds,, has the highest payroll but cant win,, then so be it..

he has that right.. every owner has the right to do whatever he wants,, he is paying their salaries..

torree is overrated .. bottom line.. look at his numbers when he DIDNT have the highest payroll in baseball.. do your research..

and those other managers you listed dont have the highest payroll.. they actually have to work.. torre basicly has to let these guys go out and play..

i think cashman is more at fault than torre.. he put this team together for the last 7 years with little or no starting pitching.. thats why they one 4 out of 5.. iot was PITCHING and thats it.. and thats why they are inferior now.. they lack pitching..

BOTTOM LINE!!!!

hey Kev--

different situation in philly,,

he finally got the team to play hard and make the playoffs,, that was a huge hurdle for them to get over,, thats why he is rewarded..

cant even compare the situations.. different teams, different situation..

A heck of a lot more than the Phillies did with Charlie Manuel, but Torre is on his way out and Manuel gets a 2 year extension. What is wrong with this picture?

Katalex said it all. This just proves once again that a mad man (George Steinbrenner) is in control of the greatest sports franchise on earth. It's nice to see that most fans from all over the major leagues have, to a certain extent, rallied in support of Joe Torre.

He won what he had to win.... 4 WORLD SERIES out of six (we lost 'cause of mo vs. D-backs and vs. the Marlins cause we had a terrible team, have you never looked at it? we had jeter, posada and... boone???)

I think the yankees will sack him, not because he didn't win much in his years in the bronx but because he didn't win in the past 7 years.
