the reason the guy in Chicago died was because it was unseasonably hot outside. Even though other athletes play in hot weather they do not perform for an extended period of time like a runner does. Marathons are usually held in the Fall time because the weather is cool. The Marathon should have been postponed.

The guy who died in Chicago died because he had a heart condition. The marathon didn't kill him, his condition did. Even if it did, it his choice to participate in a high risk activity, if you even want to call it that.

Mandatory marathons could probably be made illegal, but since there aren't any of those that I know of, its a pretty unlikely proposition that lacks any justification at all. People are allowed to do much worse things to themselves.....
