what is the REAL reason that Stephen Gately has been pulled from Godspell?

He was supposed to be the lead role, but due to 'contractual reasons' has been pulled from the show.

Does anyone know the real reason why?

I don't think we will ever know the answer to that. If the sales were low they probably made him the scape goat.
