I have seen loads of these emails on sites like Pogo and playandwin why do they bother with them. its the same as the old fashoned chain letters where they say if you dont pass this on to 5 people with in X amount of time then something bad will happen.

No they're all a load of rubbish. I have never sent one and nothing bad has ever happened to me.

No, I rarely even open an email when it is a forward. They are usually started by spammers trying to gather email addresses to sell. I particularly hate the emails that use an emotional plea to get you to forward something to "everyone you care about". It is manipulative. So, no I do not and my friends know that if they want to email me with some real news about themselves I will read it and respond back.

People used to pass jokes, chain mails, and - the ones I especially hate - 'warnings' of viruses, scams, etc
I deleted them, unitl I discovered snopes - http://www.snopes.com - the urban legend reference site.
Now, if someone sends me a warning. I send it back with a reference to the appropriate snopes page, telling them (for example) that their latest "doomsday -virus- which- will- obliterate- your- pc" warning is really about a simple worm, captured by 99.99% of all anti-virus programs
I dont get very many of those sort of e-mails anymore :-)
