at supermarket checkouts don't give out vouchers or points when the shopper is entitled to them?

I don't know if it happens in other stores but when I shop in my local supermarket, if I use my own bags, or re-use a bag, instead of taking a new plastic bag I'm rewarded with "green clubcard points" for being a good girl. If I go to a checkout where there's a female or older male at the till I get my points, but never if I go to a till where there's a young male.

Just curious! but it could explain why certain checkouts have short queues. What do you think?

Omg! Too true! This isn't just you so don't get paranoid will you?!! This happens to us all the time especially at weekends.....must be Saturday Staff Syndrome lol. Well seeing as how this particular supermarket has record level profits and are introducing a "no carrier bag" policy maybe we, the consumers, need to do something about it! Mr. T. wouldn't be happy if we all started using Morrisons hessian bags instead of theirs would they? A National Weekend Boycott perhaps lol or use other stores hessian bags instead of theirs! They would have to give us green points for advertising another supermarket haha. As for the shorter queues at certain checkouts....maybe the lads have got it sussed that if they don't give out the extra points or vouchers then they'll have little or no work to do and still get their wages, crafty blighters!

Maybe the young male checkers are more "clueless" and lazy. Lots of checkers are lazy and will do only the least that is expected of them. (no offense to the hardworking ones)

I just bring these things to their attention and make them fork over what is owed me. I have a reasonable expectation that service providers will provide me with an even keeled service irregardless of the checker I get or the day of the week or how busy the store is and I don't have a problem getting what I feel I deserve each time.
You're the customer and it's up to you to get the proper service.

No job satisfaction, caused by a damage to pride, after all even this generation regards the checkout as a womans job. I've never noticed this problem but I prefer a woman on the checkout

Please be more pro-active on your own part...ask for the "points." Remember, young people are there for the money to spend on the weekend, no more, no less..this is not a career to them, they really are not vested in the job what so ever. Here, life has come far too easy to many kids...grocerty stores do NOT pay minimum wage, and in fact, it is pretty good money..yet, the young ones act as if they couldn't care less about the job. Give them a few more years when they find that life is not a give-me world and their attitudes will change. In the meantime, ask for what you deserve if you don't get it...easy. Love and peace, Goldwing

through my experiences, some young male men are very driven by 'employee of the month' don't ask me why.
anyways, that includes serving customers as quick as you can, which means leaving out the less essential things (to them) and hurry you up!
STOP
turn around at get your vouchers you earned, their employee of the month should come AFTER customer care!

it's probably because they just don't care they are just doing the job to make money. i'm not sticking up for then i think its stinks too. no job satisfaction or pride, they don't think that in the future they may need a reference from these people...sorry thats a bit more about service as well.

Remembering when I was a young man and where my mind usually was, "I refuse to answer this question on the grounds it might tend to degrade and incriminate me." "I stand on my constitutional rights."

They must be aloof, inconsiderate and damned lazy. They probably consider themselves too good to be doing "such a menial" job.
Why don't you ask them for these points? I'm never afraid to ask for what I'm entitled to.

They are thinking about what they did last night and what they are going to do tonight, you are just an interruption in between, ask for them and then check them SLOWLY.
