Franco was given a 2 year deal with the Mets prior to the 2006 season. However, he wasn't playing up to the Mets standards through the early part of the season, so he was released.

The Braves were in desperate need of help at 1B, before they made the deal to get Teixeira, so they signed him. Once Teixeira came to Atlanta he was shipped to the Braves single-A affiliate, Rome, where he played in August. Then with the roster expansion and September call-ups Franco went back to Atlanta, where he finished out the season as a pinch hitter.

He is still currently with the Braves, but he is due to become a free agent once the off-season officially starts.

Aftr the Mets released him the Braves signed him and he played for several games before being optioned to the minors for the rest of August, then when the rosters were expanded in September he returned to the big league club. I believe the contract was just for this season, but I wouldn't be suprised to see him get a non-roster invite to camp and make the team.

I know he wound up the season playing for the Braves after being released by the Mets. I hope someone picks him up next year and he can play again...its fun seeing someone 48 play that still has some talent and can help a team
