To remove cat pee:

Sponge out with a litlle water. Sprinkle cheap plain white vinegar - this stops them wanting to go back because of the smell- do NOT use ammonia - this smell attracts them!

Cover with Bicarb soda, then vacuum up in a day or two.

This should work with human pee too - but you probably don't need the vinegar smell to stop the humans going back there though!

If your pet has had an accident in the house the faster you clean up the mess the better. Remember your pet has a much better sense of smell than you and if he detects the odor he may be tempted to mark the area at a later time, and this can be really awful if you have more than one animal!

Soak up any urine with paper or a towel (don't rub it in, dab it up)

Start at the outside of the stain and work inwards

Rinse the area with water to dilute the urine

Soak up the water with paper or a towel

Place a towel over the spot and place something heavy on it - leave for a while. (If you have a wet dry carpet vacuum use it :)

Use an effective pet neutralizer if you have one or use baking soda. (be careful not to damage carpet, you may want to test a small area first.)

Remember liquid soaks down into a carpet. Lift it up and clean underneath if you can.

Whatever you do...Don't use an ammonia based product as pets are attracted to it! This will just cause them to want to pee in the same spot over and over again...ewwww!

If the stain reappears repeat the process by rinsing with more water

If the stain won't go away consider commercially cleaning the carpet

I hope that this answer/information helps you. I have 4 dogs in my home and have had to deal with this many times in the past and I am sure that I will have to deal with it in the future as well! Good luck!

Vinegar, Vinegar, Vinegar. Cheap and extremely effective for eliminating odors. Spray or blot, pure white vinegar after blotting and rinsing the urine. This stuff will neutralize the smell of vomit! Don't soak it, but put a good spray over it. If you can still smell the odor, spray more. Safe on anything. Use as a room deodorizer, spray on furniture, etc. After it's dried, the vinegary smell will go away.
I shampood my carpet in an area my dog likes to frequent (still working on that dog) and then rinsed it (using the carpet cleaner....p.s. it cleans the hardwater deposits and residue in the lines of the carpet cleaner too) using vinegar. Worked great!

Either a strong solution of bicarbonate of soda in warm water ( soak the area with the bicarb solution the blot up with kitchen paper )after you have cleaned the area with a carpet cleaner, or clean the area then rub with white vinegar, will move the smell and the vinegar smell will disappear in a short time.

Any good proprietary carpet cleaner should get rid of the stain. To get rid of the smell without throwing the carpet away use BIOLOGICAL washing powder. I use it when my dogs have the occasional accident and it does work!

Use OUT! or some other enzyme cleaner that feeds on the urine. Saturate the area and cover with a damp towel. It will smell like ammonia as the enzymes are working but when it dries, the smell will be gone. Toss the towel.
Good luck!

Mix a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, (8-12ozs) with 3-5 drops of a fragrant liquid dish washing detergent. Spray or pour on the area. The peroxide neutralizes the urine, the detergent leaves a odor cover.

If it's cat pee which smells a lot and can leave a stain, my mother always used 10% ammonia in hot water. You need to scrub it in to break it up, so us a brush or a wash rag. Something durable.

Are you refering to animal or human urine? Pet stores carry a liquid pet urine product that works very well in removing urine smells and stain from carpeting. Just follow the directions on the bottle.

use dish soap. pee is amonia, so if you use soap, that will help it out. blot the area with a damp sponge or cloth with some water and soap. don't scrub the area. let the cloth soak up the mess.
