Try breaking a brazil nut or walnut in half and gently rub around the mark. There are also proprietory brands of 'stuff' you can buy. Try the nuts first.

It depends on how it was formed. If it was from a hot cup, you will probably need to sand and refinish it. The moisture in the wood is drawn up into the topcoat. For a water ring, you may be able to rub it out with mayonaise.

Anything that will blend in the stain. But don't use an abrasive as it will scratch it and make it worse.
