Let Windows manage it. If you put numbers in there yourself, you restrict Window's ability to use additional memory should it need to. Windows XP does an excellent job of managing memory on its own (unlike the earlier versions of Windows). So I would not put in numbers.
Every time one of my customers does, it ends up as a help call, because they keep getting the "Windows is out of Vitual Memory" error.

Let windows figure it out. You have 1.5 gigs whats the problem? Virtual memory uses the disk drive. The disk drive as memory is slow, very slow.. You don't want windows using virtual memory when it doesn't need to and changing this setting may effect that.
Why do you want to mess with it? If your really concerned add more Ram or take a look at your video card and get a faster one with more memory. Get rid of unnecessary TSR's. Defrag the drive and registry and optimize with Fix it Utilities..

Just let the OS deal with it. Micro$oft have fixed their problems with virtual memory and disk cache to the point at which you don't have to set it manually.
If you do want to set it yourself you should set it to ensure that you will have enough total memory to run everything you'll need to run (don't listen to any rules of thumb, the more physical RAM you've got the less virtual memory you need although you should just let the OS figure that out).

Let Windows deal with it.
We always used to say 3 times the RAM - but that was back in the days of Windows 3.11 with 16 megabytes!!

If you are considering virtual memory in hard disk give minimum of 500mb to max1500mb if your hard disk has that much space. Its ideal given you have 1.5ghz DDR RAM.

If you have the HD space, I would use 3gb and 5 gb respectively. I do not believe windows is adequate in this area, and always set my own.
