First you need a scanner (or an all-in-one printer that includes a scanner). The scanner/printer should come with software for operating it. Unfortunately it is going to be a little different for each brand. But normally it will give you an icon on the desktop of running the scanner/printer. Check the documentation that came with it and it will show you how to use the software.

Where it puts the picture is another issue. Normally the software will give you the option to decide where you want the picture to be saved. You can also use the "Search" function on the Start menu to look for the pictures if you are not sure where it was saved. Simply type in the filename and it will find the pictures for you. If you are planning to put the pictures on to a CD, it is recommended that you save them all in one directory together.

Once you have the pictures scanned in, (and assuming you have a CD burner in your computer,) you would open a "My Computer" window where you can see the picture files. Then open a second window that shows you the CD drive with a blank CD in it. Simply drag the picture to the CD window. Click the "Burn now" in the File menu when you have all the pictures there.

Once you have confirmed that the CD works, you can delete the original pictures from your hard drive.

you need to have a scanner, your pictures to be scanned and at least a cd-rw drive. connect and install your scanner, restart, scan your pictures then save it to your computer. open up your burning software (nero or something similar, one should be included with your drive) then add files. burn and you're done.

edit: you only need to scan the pictures if they are physically printed pictures. you don't need to scan them if they are already saved in your computer. if they are already saved, you just need to open your burning software and add files to the blank cd that is in your drive.

if you haven't got the physical printed pictures saved in your computer, your scanner should have a software that you need to scan your pictures. install the software, open it up, put the pictures down facing the glass of your scanner then access your software and click "scan" or something similar. scan and save (take note of the directory / place you save them in your computer). then since they are already saved to your computer just do what i have told you above.
