As a teenager I'm not afraid to go to high school. I mean the chances of a school shooting happening are very low. and hey that's what the lockdown drills are for. and if you don't follow directions during the drills - well pray to god no one will come to school with a gun or you will get shot at. I mean bad stuff happens around us everyday yet I don't shut myself in my room all day. There's robberies, kidnappings, car accidents, etc. More stuff to name of but you shouldn't be afraid of walking out of your house just suck it up. And I would never want to be homeschooled. I am quite smart so I don't see the difference - besides my dad's an *** and my mom's european this whole learning thing from other's wouldn't work. going to a public school made me learn not just about math, and reading and stuff but other stuff like how to interact with people, how to be confident, and i can give a pretty darn good speech. See I have skills logically, musically, and verbally.

Id like to say that would never happen in the school my daughter will be attending but I cant say that with any surety. It happened in an Amish schoolhouse! I'm sure I'll be concerned when she's old enough to go to school but not afraid; unless there's a bomb threat or something. I would probably be a trifle afraid everyday she went to school after that. But no I will not be homeschooling. I enjoyed public school (most of the time anyway) so maybe she will too.

I'm homeschooled and I love it. I would much rather be homeschooled than go to public school. Yeah, when your
homeschooled you don't have as many friends, but it's a known fact that homeschoolers learn more than kids that are in public school. And to me, Schools about learning, not making friends.

I am concerned not afraid. My daughter's school is pretty decent (but who am I? I'm not in the school). No I do not believe in homeschooling. Everyone that I know that was home schooled is very weird.

if i was in america, i would be afraid to send my kids to school. it is a bad sign showing that something is very wrong with a society to have children murdering each other.
i think it is karmic of america to be experiencing such shocking events as they are the society that loves guns so much and produce most of the violent images in films and tv programs that are seen all over the world.
unfortunately, they must sell them cheap as such rubbish is so common on tv and teens around the world, now think they are little homey gangsters, with crap attitude and the uniform.
in this small town where i live, a few years back , the kids would greet me and say hello, now they like to silently ride past on their bicycles, often dangerously close and sometimes just glare. they are starting to feel a little scary.

No,I wasn't afraid for them to go to high school, its an experience they needed, despite all the tragic possibilities that can happen there ...We had in depth talks on what to do in given situations though so they were prepared for the worst...I don't believe in home schooling as it lacks social skills that I feel are an important experience for them as well..=)

from a kids point of view: parents should not be afraid to send kids to school. theres no reason. the chance of a school shooting is very low, and even if it does happen we have to practice lock down precedures JUST like you would a fire drill.
