A friend of mine who is a well-known artist would like to signup with facebook but they are not accepting his name because it is a known artist name. If he signs up with his "real name" or a fake name, will he be able to change his display name later to his artist name?

Haha poo head, that's a funny answer! My friend has a stage name though that's made up of 2 words, not regular names. There are loads of michael jackson's because it's a real name but my friend has a non-name stage name if that names any sense. It's not "the enigma" but it's something simular. He could use his real name but the only person who calls him by his real name is his old dad.

You can change your name but my understanding is that they approve the changes manually, so they still might not let your friend change the name to a famous name. He might have to write an e-mail to Facebook staff and get special permission.

You can change you name in the 'account' area of your profile (small print in the top right of the screen). However it does not happen automatically- the new name has to be approved by a Facebook staff member (usually taking anywhere from an hour to a couple of days). So it's unlikely your friend will be able to change their ID to an originally unaccepted name at a later date, but it's worth a go!

I would say no. Whilst it is possible to submit a request for your name to be changed I believe it is vetted by Facebook and therefore would be subject to the same scrutiny that it is currently experiencing.

Is nobody else wondering who the famous person is or is it just me that is nosey! Hee hee!!
TBH tho I cant see what the prob is as there are plenty of people out there with the same name as famous people, famous or not themselves?
If you just type in "Brad Pitt" in a search you get loads of people with that name appear, quite a few who look exactly like him too!

yes you can change your name as long as its a sesible sounding name i did it lastweek !!! go to my account and click change name the request goes in but it can take a few days for the change to happen ojn the screen be patient
