Yes the pain that you have when you try to help someone out - and the gain you get when you see them pull themselves out of their destructive cycle.

The pain is always worth the gain. Kind of like is the glass half empty or full, it's all about perspective and attitude!

Is the pain worth the gain?....YES, it is. Pain is real when you get other people to believe in it. If no one believes in it but you, your pain is madness or hysteria. Like when we finally know we are dying, and all other sentient beings are dying with us, we start to have a burning, almost heartbreaking sense of the fragility and preciousness of each moment and each being, and from this can grow a deep, clear, limitless compassion for all beings, where there is love, there is pain.
