Why can't I walk into Wal Mart and get what ever I want without paying? It's the investment, it's what it cost me. To gain, either material, emotional, spiritual, physical, or mental, I must pay a price. Anything worth having causes an investment in blood, sweat, or tears.

It simply means that without hard work you cannot achieve satisfaction not necessarily success.
I suggest watching the movie, 'the pursuit of happyness' it's a great example and true story.
