Since I was a kid, I always wanted to see Aurora Boreal with my own eyes, and now that I have the possibility to, I want to ask you where is the best place to see one and what time of year?
I would like to spend a whole holiday there so North Pole is out of the question :) somewhere habitable.
I heard that Iceland is a good place but does it happen all year, or just a few days, and when is most spectacular?

I live in northern Alberta, Canada in a rural area and we see them quite often, more so in winter than in summer. If you were to go further north to Nunavit, Northwest Territories or the Yukon; Alaska as well, you would see them better (more visible and colorful). Iceland I'm sure would put on a good show as it is far enough north.
You will see them better away from cities where the streetlights make them hard to see. Also it has to be a clear night (few clouds) to get a really good viewing.
Where I live it is kind of hit and miss, you never know exactly when you will see them and sometimes it is not as spectacular as others. Sometimes it's just looks like lights dancing and at other you see a whole spectrum of colours.
Good luck, I hope you see one of the more spectacular shows, they are really cool.

I have read somewhere that Aurora Borealis can also be seen in Australia. But I'm not exactly sure the time it can be seen.

Do a yahoo search. There are plenty of companies that provide accommodations and tours. Look under "northern lights"
