I know how you feel I'm 100lb and 5'3" I don't know if thats the average weight of someone who is 5'3" but I'm really skinny and I only gain weight in my boobs lol. But I'm not complaining =] Don't worry and enjoy it while it lasts because people usually pack on a few pounds when they get older.

Unless you have really small bones you are very underweight. Putting weight on isn't easy if you have a busy metabolism but you don't want to lose valuable muscle tissue so you need to gain a few pounds.
When I was in chemo for my cancer I lost tons of weight. I put it back on by drinking an Ensure with every meal . This is a nutrient drink with about 400 calories. 3 per day will roughly double your caloric intake in a very healthy way. There are several brands I really like the strawberry in Walmart's house brand and the chocolate Ensure. It only took about a month for me to regain about 12 pounds which helped a lot since I had lost about 30. I am 5'4 and now weigh about 118-120. At your height you could use between 12 and 15 pounds depending on how large your bones are. You could try this. I still drink one a day just for the nutrition and the good calories and my weight is staying pretty constant inspite of the illness.

Don't worry about it, sweetie. I only weighed 87 at age 19 when I got married. I was 5' exactly, and after each of my children were born, I immediately went back down to around the 90-lb. mark. I was much healthier then, and more physically attractive than I am now that my metabolism has slowed down. I have added about 2 # every year or so since my early to mid-30's and now weigh 140! So be happy with your 88. And when you get a bit older & it starts going up a bit at a time, start dieting THEN to get to your former weight, as it is almost impossible to lose when you get old & slow.
Besides, they are hiring shorter models these days, so maybe modeling is in your future.
Just feel good about yourself, no matter how much you weigh. If you are satisfied with yourself, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks, but you can bet they will probably pick up on your affirmative attitude about yourself and will admire your confidence. Good luck and a happy life to you!

When I got married many years ago, I was 64 inches and weighed 98 pounds. Yes, I was thin, but I ate all the time and was very active. After awhile, the pounds started adding on and then three kids later I found myself a good 25 pounds overweight. Just continue eating and enjoying your life and most of all, don't worry or focus on it.

I would really want to force-feed her a burger.
Seriously though, you should seek the help of a nutritionist to help you gain weight in a healthy way. You don't want to stuff yourself with Krispy Kreme donuts trying to gain a few...that's not good for your health either. You may want to see a doctor as well, as there are some medical problems that can affect your ability to maintain a healthy weight because your body is not processing food properly, i.e. not absorbing nutrients like you should.

It really all depends on how old u are..I went to high school, 5ft tall , and 90 lbs, and graduated 5ft8, curves n 120lbs. If u haven't really developed yet, don''t worry...if you are older and done growing, then yes, u need to find a way to gain a bit of weight that works for you. ..talking to a Dr. would be a good start.
Good luck!

I think that you need to speak to a dietician and see about getting that resolved... there has to be a way you can gain weight... it is possible that you have a thyroid issue... you really should seek professional help. Does not sound healthy and could affect you long term.

Seriously underweight.......if you really want to gain weight you need to do it carefully and should probably consult your family doctor. They can give you a good healthy diet and make sure there is no underlying problems with why you can't gain weight.

I know how you feel. All through school I was teased because everybody thought I was anorexic or bulimic....I'm just small. I'm sorry to tell you, but if you are eating enough and getting exercise, you might just be small. Don't worry about it too much, it always helped me to think, "There are women in this world that literally die trying to look the way we do naturally."
