It would take an agreement on the division of Jerusalem. This always seems to be the ultimate sticking point.
Beyond that, the Palestinians, and the Israelis as well, are composed of factions, some of which will not accept the direction of elected leaders, so some Palestinians would shoot missiles into Israeli towns, or kidnap people in border areas, and some kibbutzim would refuse to leave occupied areas, and would take the law into their own hands. At times as well, it seems that the military has had its own ideas of correct action, independent of its elected leaders. Both sides require a strong leader that can control ALL its citizens.
I don't know if peace will ever arrive, but I imagine if it does, it will happen suddenly, as events line up in some surprising way.

What worked in the past?
- The Assyrians moved hostile populations to other parts of the empire
- The Greeks deported anyone of Turkish ancestry and the Turks visa-versa
- Germans were forced to move from their ancestral homes in what is now Poland, the Czech Republic, and northern Serbia after WWI and WWII
- Scots were forced to leave what is now northern England
- Christians were killed or forced to leave from the Middle East by the invading Arabs
- French were forced out of eastern Canada by the British
Basically the only lasting thing appears to be to create a majority so the Palestinians would have to be relocated to Iran or something. Short of WWIII, though, that isn't going to happen. So the most realistic thing would be for an internally strong Palestinian state devoid of Hezbollah and their kind who would prosecute their citizens that terrorize the Israelis. Israel will behave if their neighbors do; it is that easy.

A strict Hand of discipline governing their mental growth as human beings which will be with the help of proper education and etiquette which doesn't involve any religion hinderings....Muslims are famous for being the ones to create misunderstandings and violence all over the globe and maybe beyond too...seriously I mean it's about time Muslims who r hardcore into their religion have such a low faith in themselves as human being, I just wonder why they even pray when they harbour so much hatred in themselves. They just kill and don't even feel guilt or remorse human or animals both seems to be just fine for them as far as the blood flows.
I am never against any religion coz i simply don't understand religion but i understand humanity and that we r a breed violating the other living beings on this planet.
As I've seen and read and heard on the TV in reality all i've ever seen is Muslims have become so famous as terrorists and people haters that it's a wonder they they don't realise it as yet, even they watch the tv and read the papers and the whole media and the world showcases them as terroristsbut still they continue their behaviour.
No offense to those Muslims who r really educated and have a very different perspective bout life maybe thru their well balanced realising sensors they have somehow evolved as better humans. But on a whole and in general Muslims have not been the symbol of peace and serenity.
People get so frustrated with something so un important as religion I truly don't understand why can't we all live in peace ? why do we have to have all this crap of one being superior to the other by some religion??? why can't we be superior to one another with our good thots and good deeds....
I truly think people have to understand the importance of existance with one another peacefully and with care.

A miracle. Since that is not very realistic, I have no idea.
Many Jews and Palestinians get along now, but the extremists on both sides hate each other more than they love their own people.
Hugo Chavez may have an answer, he seems to have an answer to every other question asked lately.

we could desire to constantly ask ourselves why The West did no longer help President Abbas throughout the Palestinian disaster which grow to be led to by using the international community after the elections? Why they simply supported him after Hamas captured Gaza and whilst Abbas captured the West economic enterprise? What are we going to verify now from the "peace technique" all of them stated? Then we the total international supported Abbas blindly on the same time as he violated the Palestinian shape? Tony Blair will do no longer something functional. If Israel somewhat needs the two- state answer then it might have enfoced international regulation and wide-unfold to stay with a Palestinian state in pre-1967 borders.

It would take parents of little six year old palestinian children to stop dressing their kids up as miniature terrorists and teaching them that they will make their parents proud if they kill jews. In order for that to happen the imams and mullahs need to stop preaching the elimination of Israel. The circle of islamic hate must be broken if there is ever to be peace in that part of the world. The fault lies entirely with the muslim religious leaders and warlords. Israel has been in a defensive mode ever since day one of their existance as a state. To deny that fact is simply to deny reality. The entire civilized world is disgusted with islamic hate mongering.

for the leaders to keep their word.
in the past the leaders of both countries have made decisions and rules for peace and shook hands on those decisions...then when they went back home they didn't abide by those rules and decisions. What's up with that? I mean, didn't they understand what they were agreeing to, or was it that they still had some tiff or something psychological that they hadn't settled yet or something that set them off...and if so, what was it? Both sides have even agreed to use a mediator and agree to the decions made...and then they don't honor that. Even when the leaders were changed (out of office and new ones in there) it's the same darned story...

Israel will never agree to peace….
Israel should first embrace human rights, denounce the core of Zionism, stop the Armed forte mentality, stop the killing of young children under any pretext, stop confiscating land, stop all brutal and barbarian ideology, stop the racist settlers from committing atrocities against the unarmed peaceful native people of Palestine, stop waging war after war against all countries of the middle east, must stop any incitement of hatred and violence that their twisted mind have, stop believing in the nonsense in their Torah(biblical) mythology, must listen to the sound of reason, must stop its global blackmail scheme of the so called "Anti-Semitism", must quit incitement to the poor religious Jewish youth by fake promises attributed to Abraham, must stop their religious mentality that considers all humanity but Jew "Goym" (Animal like), …..And many many other things
But would it really…then it would not have been itself…
Sorry no peace for the Middle East at all…

They'd have to manage to eradicate each other so that neither side exsists. Then, and only then will the bullsh!t come to a stop. As long as one person exists on either side, there will be fighting and killing.
What do we do with two children fighting in a sandbox? Do we separate 'em or just let 'em duke it out until they get it out of their systems? Who really cares at this point? I say let 'em kill each other; there's not a damn thing any outside influence can do to stop them. (And let the winners have the sandbox all to themselves.)
