i've known a very few people here in the Philippines who doesn't eat eels. and right now im in search for them. i wanted to know why they would'nt eat eels. most of them are with Chinese ancestors. if you are one of them, please do speak up.:D

I don't know. But I wouldn't have to be forbidden to eat an eel!

I know a lot of Chinese, my mother in law for one, that loves eel. My wife also likes it. I never heard of the taboo you are referring to. Perhaps it is because they sometimes carry certain parasites from the freshwater beginnings.

It's probably taboo for their culture. I have a Filipino friend who eats all kinds of seafood, but I never heard of him not eating eels.

PROBABLY A ROMAN CATHOLIC INJUNCTION. OR PERHAPS JEWISH SINCE WE ARE FORBIDDEN IN THE BOOK OF LEVITICUS TO EAT ANY SEA CREATURE WHICH DOESN'T HAVE SCALES AND THAT WOULD INCLUDE AN EEL.

well i don't know why they are forbidden to eat eels.i think it's taboo for them....
