The games should show up right away. Try checking your connections and reset your box. If you don't get anything call your cable or sat. company.

You should have been able to get the game channels immediately after signing up for it. Unless there is a black out in effect you should have gotten that game and more. There were like ten games on center ice last night. One was on versus. My hometown game was on FSN and blackedout on Center Ice. On the channels where the games are supposed to be does it say anything? Like Upcoming game schedule or NHL team satndings, with the Center Ice LOGO? If not, I would call the cable/satilite company and ask to make sure.

You should have gotten all the games within seconds.

The only games you 'should' not see are those that are available in your area to begin with.

Every team has a local television deal (We'll call them channel A). The NHL has National TV deals (We'll call these CBC, NBC, and Vs). Every team is required to make available all games for Viewing

Under the NHL's blackout rules (which have been the same since 1968) the following takes place
- All Channel A games take priority over other broadcasts (so if NBC/Vs decides to pick up a San Jose game that they were showing locally, the NBC/Vs feed is to be blacked out in favour of the local channel). NHL Centre Ice should not have this game available to you
-CBC is showing a double header. Neither of these games should be available in Canada on NHL Centre Ice nor on any US Cable/Satellite Service that offers CBC.

Canadian teams have a long standing relationship with their local and national networks. Very few, if any games, are shown on multiple networks.

In Canada, if TSN shows a game between two American teams, NHL Centre Ice 'should' be blacked out, but not all Cable/Satellite companies adhere to this rule.

So, if a game is part of the local package, the local channel should carry it, and all other avenues should be blacked out
If the game is being carried on a National Network, NHL Centre Ice should be blacked out
If the game is not shown locally in your area, nor shown on a national network, it 'should' be available on NHL Centre Ice

Note #1: Not all US Cable/Satellite providers follow these rules (the NHL has received complaints). The NHL just sells the feeds to the cable conmpanies, they have no way of enforcing them to be shown. So, if you didn't get them, contact your cable company and ask why....after all, you are paying for it!

Note #2: With the current pick your own packages...if the channel is available in your area, but you don't subscribe to it....the game will still be blacked out because the game is still considered 'available' in your area.

I live in PA, but closer to Philly than Pittsburgh and I couldn't get a single Pens game last year on Center Ice. It seems to be the same this year.
Don't know exactly why, it may have something to do with a exclusive television deal. I know in my case that its not because of attendance, it would take me 4 hours to drive to a Pens game.
But I got to watch the other games just fine. You should have been able to too because they are still doing the free preview as far as I know.

If you were trying to watch your local team (if you live in a city where a team plays) then your game might be blacked out because of television contracts... watch the local channel then.

Otherwise, it should have been on right away... DirectTV used to have 24 hour service to troubleshoot a problem like this. The above answers explained why it could be and its a easy fix.

I had the same issue when I was living in DC. I could not get Caps games on centre ice. It has something to do with 'exclusive media rights' belonging to what ever network the team is affiliated with. The US media laws are retarded and convoluted. I do not have an issue at all in Canada watching any game.

If you have more than one cable box, it may be on the wrong one. The cable company put my MLB package on the living room TV instead of my HD in the rec room. Call them and find out because it should come on right away.

NHL is launching it's own channel, this month. That would explain the screwy availability, and possibly the obscure TV deals prior to it.

purchase a free to air satellite receiver and you can get all the games you want for free. It will pay for itself by playoff time.
