If you feel your fish is suffering by far the best way to euthanase a fish is by the use of clove oil in some water. it is used as an anesthetic, but by adding more than 1/4ml per ltr it will kill the fish painlessly.
Freezing a fish is a slow way to die.

i have a fish too, that's really sad. r u sure it's sick? i mean, my fish rests at the bottom of the tank a lot too. and if you have a beta fish, those live for a long time. if it's obvious that it's suffering, it might be best to put him out of his misery. i guess i would recommend flushing it, but only if he's on the verge of death. hope that helps!

the nicest way to euthenase a fish is to put it in a cup/glass/bowl of it's natural water and put it in the freezer! as the temperater in the water gradualy changes, the fish will drift off to sleep! this is always the way i deal with fish that i know are beyond help! it only lasts about five minutes! i would never suggest flushing a fish, becuase the sudden change in water conditions suffocates them, and that can be traumatic

I'm sorry but why are people always so keen to kill animals to "end their suffering"?
Just let it go, if its his time its his time.
I'm all for human euthenasia, because the person can make their wishes known, but how do you know if the fish is in extreme pain, or just is old and tired?

Just keep adding more water in the tank day by day taking some out that will cause the chemistry to change and kill him. Poor thing. My mom had to do that to a hampster and snap his neck for he was suffering, now that's hard. It tore her up inside.

You have a tough call to make, but you have to do it. You can also freeze him, and hope that when he gets unfreeze everything goes back to normal. Goldfish are the only fish that I know that can be freeze and they will still be alive after melting the water at room temperature.
I am going to try it with bettas soon.

that's sad that you want to kill your fish :(
but flushing is definately not the solution, it will be cruel on him
If you want him to have an easy and quick death, get clove oil
hope that helps
Good luck
