Why would a woman with a loving, kind, RESPECTFUL, and caring husband would consider having a sexual encounter with a younger male? There are so many answers as there are questions. To be totally honest, the marriage vows are sacred and against religious belief. If a marriage is continued with this knowledge and honest convictions of marriage it is immoral and illegal. Unfortunately the old double standards come into the situation. Many women have heard the same sob story from men-my wife doesnt pay any attention to me, she lets herself go, the house is a dump, and the spark is gone. By what you have mentioned it seems as she had already lost something that has been gone for sometime already. Young men and young women are interested in older partners just as well as older men and women seem to be attracted the same way, It is up to the two of you to consider whether the relationship is worth saving and working together to forgive each other, You both are at fault. Men seem to classify themselves as a good man or women as a good woman. Try to see past your own nose and accept responsibility, both of you.Marital counseling is a very good choice and also family counseling. Most importantly it would seem that counseling with your pastor or whomever would help you see past the sin or act of adultry and help you both heal your hearts and teach you how to reach each other emotionally and the feelings that brought you together. Yes, sexuality is part of a marriage but not the only part. Couples stray from each other without ever having an affair. They live in silent hurtful quietness. Children react differently than you may beleive. They live what they learn and if one parent plays one against the other parent, that is one of the most unkind, unforgettable event that the child will never recover. If there is love, there is hope. It will be very difficult from both spouses, but ultimately, choose carefully what you have to lose versus the love that evidently is there and may really be worth having. Forgiveness is difficult. If Our Heavenly Father makes all things possible, Forgiveness is so important.

I'm going to guess that the woman you are speaking of (who is in her 40s and is having a sexual affair with a teenager) knows full well that that young man is not interested in a serious relationship. She's probably just in it for the sex. So is she really being used or is SHE using?
Out of curiosity...how come you did not phrase this question as: Why do men and women commit adultery?
You speak only of women who have affairs and how they have no morals and so forth. You think there aren't about a billion and one men out there committing adultery every single day. Please! It works both ways. Take a look at your own gender before you start judging.

Yeah I agree with that Maris girl.. what? men don't go out there and do **** like that? both men and women that do this are wrong don't say just women because is a matter of fact men are more prone to do some ridiculous stuff like this.. a woman that do this have issues feel insecure and abandon by their men, because often their men make them feel unattractive.. and even though still wrong at least is an excuse that will stand after judgment. But men..LOL they will do that just for pleasure, just because they can.. So if you going to make a statement of this sort and ask such question, well include your gender in it..

Maybe they're not being used by the teen, but using the teen for their own gratification. It's sad they have to resort to this, but they probably have other issues going on in their lives and maybe they're in a bad relationship with no exit door.

Married women who are being mistreated by their "husbands" deserve to be loved by a better man. If a man "commits adultery" its accepted and seen as being quite all right. When a woman goes out with someone else, she is seen as being "no good" and gets a bad reputation. If a woman has sex with a teenager and that teen is a willing participant then why are you only looking at the 40 year old? Teenagers these days have plenty of sex, so why is it any different when they're having sex with a 40 year old?

They probably don't think they'll be caught. They think having sex w/ a teenager will make them feel younger and just want to "refresh" their sexuality? Yea I def. don't agree with this decision though!
