I think it's because the song is similarly styled to something Paul McCartney might have written. Billy Joel has said that he is a big Beatles fan and undoubtedly was influenced by them in his songs.

Vaguely, yeah. But Joel's "Through the Long Night" sounds even more McCartneyesque. Give it a listen. Sounds like something Paul would've done on one of his early solo albums.
Also, Eric Carmen (formerly of The Raspberrries), sounds TOTALLY Paul-influenced in his singing/writing. Check out the Raspberries' "Go All The Way" for starters.

I thought the exact same thing, which is hoe I found this thread. The "no" answers either don't know what they're talking about, or they're stubborn billy Joel fans. They are right in the styling sense tho, especially the chorus; it's very wings and beatleesque

No not really.....Billy Joel's voice is VERY distinct just like Paul's. In that song he doesn't sound like him...

i think that the song sounds like a paul mcartney styled song, not that billy joel's vocal tonality is like paul mcartney.

Sorry, but I don't hear the similarity. Paul's voice is cleaner and more "innocent" sounding. Billy's sound is more sarcastic and streetwise.
