I will be too and I'm a democrat. The idea of an imperial presidency sickens me and the powers that Bush has usurped have weakened the constitution an unacceptable amount. Of course unacceptable for that is any or even the shadow of weakening the constitution. The power belongs to the people and the people are much closer to the legislative branch than the executive simply because they each represent fewer people than an executive. Therefore I believe the true power over everything other than the military and foreign policy ought to rest in the congress. Even over the military the congress can choose to deny funds and are the only ones who can declare war which was a very good decision by our founding fathers. In foreign policy the congress must ratify all treaties we enter as well which is acceptable oversight.

What will most likely happen is that the GOP will flush out as many of the right wing reactionaries as possible from the party and attempt to return to being 'Eisenhower' republicans so that they can have some positive imput into the nation's business. If they don't deal with the fact that their flirtation with fascism is a loser then except for a few scattered reactionaries fighting a rear guard action the party is doomed. If they 'win', then the US will become a fascisti state. Worse, it will be a broke fascisti state soon to go the way of the old USSR and for much the same reason. History doesn't really care how hard we wave the flag....the US will become less relevant, poorer and less free.

Hillary Clinton is favored to win in 2008 and the Republicans are planning to reduce her powers in order that Iraq war will continue to have a market for their businesses such as Blackwater and construction companies.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will likely win.

If the Dragon Lady wins prepare for unending taxation. Her multi billion dollar appeasement programs will be funded by the sheep who voted her in (I think that's called paradox). She will also be flanked by her congressional drones and they won't lift a finger to reduce anything.

They'll whine and cry about everything Hillary does. They'll try to diminish her successes by giving Bush the credit.

Meforbes you are a liar. Hillary votes for the Democrat position 92% of the time.

God I hope she loses! Please look at her record in the Senate before you vote to put another Bush in Power! She is not what she says she is...and she is definitely not her husband!
But more than likely it will remain status quo...because she has voted with the republicans on almost every issue...why would they?
Nois...don't call me names...she has voted with the repubs on very important issues...ie...Patriot Act, Bankruptcy reform, I could go on and on...

Yep. The imperial presidency only applies to a Republican President. When it's a Democrat, then the position should basically be that of a figurehead according to them.
