Does anyone else think Mt. Rushmore is disgusting? We come to America, kick the Indians off their land, and then carve a bunch of white men's faces into some of their most sacred land(which we gave back to them, btw, but that doesn't matter cause we'll still do whatever we want.) Borglum, the man in charge of the making of Mt. Rushmore, was even a known racist and had affiliation with the KKK. Red cloud and his indians needed supplies one winter(for fear of dying if they didn't get them). So red cloud cut a deal with Borglum. They could continue Mt. Rushmore as long as Borglum gave them supplies. Then they make Borglum look like such a nice guy by helping the Indians out, when in fact he was just out for his own benefit.

I'll never visit Mt. Rushmore. It's a disgrace to America.

Allies, hate? Come on. This is the truth, and you're obviously to close minded to see it. I'm a Conservative, Republican by the way, patriotic, and I love this country, but I think the damage was already done with the Indians, and by doing this it just stirs the kettle even more.

Allies, and who says I think America is a disgrace?? If you think Mt. Rushmore is what represents all of America, you sir have the problem not me. But you're probably to close minded and ignorant to see that so anything I say to you is just futile.

Dee Jay, I'm well aware that countries conquer, and start over...I'm just saying, Why kick a dog when it's already down? I've probably gone further in my education than you could ever dream, so your argument is tarnished and irrelevant.

Wow dude. If you can't even see Mt. Rushmore, why are you even in our country? Move somewhere else if you believe America is a disgrace.

I'm not saying that every American has to agree with every thing that happens. But when it comes down to something that inflicts hate, why bother staying in this country if it bugs you so much?

Dude. You are trying to settle an issue that happened almost 300 years ago. It's in the past. It's over. We're in the present where current issues matter most, not the past.

Mt. Rushmore indicates American pride and beauty. I'm not saying the Americans were right by settling in the Indian's territory ... but man ... we're in the MILLENIUM now.

Every major country has gone through war, conquer, and civilization. You cannot change that history.

Wait we were stilling taking the Indians land when Woodrow was in office? (I think the last guy is Woodrow I'm not sure) Or was he, and perhaps Abe Lincoln, added afterward? Anyway alot of people don't know that. I don't think its a disgrace, but then again its not like I worship it. If anything I would think its insulting to Native Americans. EDIT: Alright I looked it up. You are just talking about the Borglum guy right? Well he didn't start till 1927. By then I would think all the Indians would be gone. Well I mean the leader of a Sioux tribe did name the mountain first and whatnot. But the man you are complaining about came a while after that. So what he was a racist? Its bad, yeah, but it has nothing to do with the carving of some presidents. (If he was so racist why would he choose to carve the face of a man who freed blacks from slavery?) Infact he choose them because they represented the first 150 years of the us, they preserved the Republic and expanded out the territory. I think you are just over reacting a little bit. But yeah its disgraceful to Native Americans

Indians are from India, I think your referring to Native Americans. It use to belong to the Cheyenne nation but then the Lakota nation attacked the Cheyenne and took there lands away from them but thats okay because Native Americans are just wild animals that are only following their instincts, right? Uh Oh, I just got a news flash! Native Americans are Human Beings!!! How could that be? Everyone knows only the white man does that! I mean go ahead tear Mt. Rushmore down, who the heck needs a big ol' face of Lincoln hanging around. What the heck did he ever do? I'm curious, you do know that black people use to be slaves in America?

Since you are so private with you Q & A'S, I wont give you the benefit of an answer.

Who were your ancestors?

What country are you from?

If you don't like it here you should be good to yourself and return to your place.

Before you decide who took what from who, then you need to justify every country in this whole wide word.

Not one country on this earth is free to say that they were the original settlers of any land.

Evidently you are ignorant of the history of the world.

Please stop referring to Native Americans as Indians. I take objection to that. I'm Indian from India and that's all I like to deal with. Why do you want to continue a definition which European colonisers imposed upon your people? "Native Americans" sounds so proper and accurate for your people. And of course, I sympathise with your people who were victims of colonisation much the same way we were under British rule.

I'd give the black hills back to the tribe we took it from only if the tribe we took it from immediately gives it back from the tribes they stole it from.
I love Mount Rushmore.
