I've tried googling, none of the results are what I'm looking for. This song is sort of a older sounding rock song, the singer's voice is a little... screechy, maybe?
And it's really annoying because I can't figure out what the next few words are... it's like, "Hey, you! Dun dun dun dun dun dun DA, dun dun dun DA, dun dun dun dun dun dun DA..."
So yeah, "hey you" followed by seven syllables with the last word stressed... maybe something like "hey you, you wanna go for a ride?"
is this ringing a bell with anyone?
PLEASE. it's driving me CRAZY.

It's not BTO, it's not the Exies, and it's an upbeat type of song... the "hey you" part is kind of as if the singer is just sitting around and calling out at a girl walking past

To Andy,

"and it's not Pink Floyd"

Dont worry. I almost did the same thing but read the entire question before replying.

Maybe Hey You by the Exies. Its on Guitar Hero. It sounds kinda like how you described and I think you may have mistaken "you wanna go for a ride" for the line "why do you want to die?" Easy to confuse with the vocals not being very clear and all.

So listen I have a song stuck in my head too, It goes like this... I love you, dadu dau, da da da, daduda, da da da. Hun that can be any song and the whole du da di whatever thing doesn't help. We need to hear the beat. Call a radio station and describe the song, they may be able to tell you who it is that sings it!

"Zero"

My reflection, dirty mirror
There's no connection to myself
I'm your lover, I'm your zero
I'm the face in your dreams of glass
So save your prayers
For when we're really gonna need'em
Throw out your cares and fly
Wanna go for a ride?

She's the one for me
She's all I really need
Cause she's the one for me
Emptiness is loneliness, and loneliness is cleanliness
And cleanliness is godliness, and god is empty just like me
Intoxicated with the madness, I'm in love with my sadness
Bullshit fakers, enchanted kingdoms
The fashion victims chew their charcoal teeth
I never let on, that I was on a sinking ship
I never let on that I was down
You blame yourself, for what you can't ignore
You blame yourself for wanting more
She's the one for me
She's all I really need
She's the one for me
She's my one and only

Rings loud n' proud: The song is "Hey You" by the 1970s Canadian rock group, Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Limewire the band's name and you'll likely find that song and "Let It Ride" and their other popular rock n' roll hits.

My guess is that it's Bachman Turner Overdrive. There was also a No Doubt song called Hey You, but I don't think that's what you're talking about.

could this be it

Joey McIntyre Lyrics: Let Me Take You For A Ride

(Chorus) Let me take you for a ride
We can do
Just what you like.
I want you seated by my side.
Let me take you for a ride.

(Verse) Hey cutie, what's your name?
You're all alone
And it's a shame, it's a shame
What's wrong- you look so sad
I got a plan to take your blues away
Take them all away.

(Bridge) Don't you think it's time
For you to be good to you.
So come along with me and RIDE
Cuz everything's gonna be all right. So.

(Chorus) Let me take you for a ride
We can do
Just what you like.
I want you seated by my side.
Let me take you for a ride.

(Verse) So baby Take my hand
You gotta know - That I will understand
Baby, I'm your man

Just put your trust in me
Relax and don't you try
To shy away, girl
Let's fly away.

(Bridge) Don't you think it's time
For you to be good to you.
So come along with me and RIDE
Cuz everything's gonna be all right. So.

(Chorus) Let me take you for a ride
We can do
Just what you like.
I want you seated by my side.
Let me take you for a ride.

(Breakdown)- Where do you wanna go
What do you wanna see
It's all up to you.
Come take a ride with Joe.
Be who you wanna be
And your dreams'll come true.

(Chorus x3)Let me take you for a ride
We can do
Just what you like.
I want you seated by my side.
Let me take you for a ride.
