My wife and our dreams...

2007-10-10 18:24:34 · answer #1 · answered by Jay & Gigi 6 · 4 0

The only thing that has kept me going through all of my years has always been my loved ones. There have been way too many times when I have felt suicidal in my past years and the one thing that kept me going was knowing I had my children or as I got older, my grandchildren that I am now raising, kept me going as I always felt they needed me. I know this sounds sort of morbid but this is coming from my heart and is true. I just read what I wrote and I don't want you to think I am always depressed and feeling suicidal as that is not true. I have just felt that way at certain times throughout my life. Most times, I love nature--the true beauty of everything and I love most people. There is much joy in just living but sometimes life will get me down and I don't even know why. Just wanted to clarify that.

After surviving war and cancer; after 37 wonderful years of marriage; after 2 daughters and 1 son in law; after 2 great children; the answer is very simple. What keeps me going is life itself.

Paul A and conim2002 are most eloquent. I admire the both of them and wish them health, happiness, and a very long life.

The realisation that in spite of what we may think about it, the future can continue to surprise us in the most wonderful ways possible if we only allow it to. That more awaits me than I ever dreamed possible if I make the necessary efforts and continue to keep my eyes on the beacon in the distance throught the night.

We can't ever stop thinking like little children.

Have you ever seen how a small child tackles the day? They drive in full force and find all the little things to be excited about.

Life should be like Disney Land. We need to be excited about each new ride and attraction around the corner.

I don't want to ever loose the excitement!

Sad as it sounds, I have a houseful of animals that need to be taken care of. THAT keeps me going.

My 4 1/2 year old daughter.
I'm a single father, 50 years old, and an recovering alcoholic for 4 years and a few months.
I gave life, and it saved mine.
Who knew?....I know. I know now.
Thanks for letting me share. I'm very proud.

I second the above answer. "Hope". The belief that when I fall asleep morning will come and it will be a new day.

When things are hard, you gotta believe in something to pull you through. A believe that we are only given what we can handle and if I can just get over that hurdle I will be okay, I will be stronger, it will be one more mountain I can look back on and say, "Yup, I climbed that."

I am so fortunate! I have an absolutely amazing family, a wonderful husband, awesome friends, a great job, and my own little farm with lots of really cool critters.
