Yes, it's satiric. The premise is that Americans overreacted to the incident.
I think that the person who originally posted the clip, and gave you best answer, thought it was ironic that you were aggravated by the video depicting Americans as overreactors. Because, according to him, you were overreacting.
I totally don't understand the French version with the lightpole.

I found it very disappointing that a sporting event viewed throughout the entire world would end in this manner. I hope to see more positive images as we compete against other nations. Maybe we take sports too seriously.
