No. However, if you just started taking prenatal vitamins for the first time, it's normal to have diarrhea and gas for the first few days on them as your body gets used to them (particularly the added iron).

Don't panic. Just stay hydrated. I had this problem, it turns out I have IBS (irratable bowel syndrome), and the hormone flucuations from pregnancy made it bad enough for me to notice.

DO give your doctor a call right away though, just in case your coming down with the flu or a bad stomach bug. Good luck :)

I seem to have terrible painful gas with mine as with my last one. If you're passing your gas it is okay (lucky). Mine seems to be building up and is not passing, might be gastritis or something. I do know that Mylanta Gas Extra Strength is SAFE, it was reccomended by my doctor. Sometimes it works. My last pregnancy I was constipated through most of it, this one, on the other hand, I too seem to have diarrhea every few days.

As far as that last comment about eating more fiber, DO NOT! Fiber will make your bowels move quickly! It's what you eat to help with constipation, not diarrhea. This pregnancy I have been eating a lot of fruits, especially apples (high in fiber) so I pretty much blame my diet. I think I need more carbs and things. What really backs people up is peanut butter toast and potatoes, things like that. So you should try balancing your diet more I guess.

I would still mention it to your doctor, I know I am going to on my next visit. I kind of have another thing against me being lactose intolerant, so this may be a factor for me. If you've noticed it after dairy foods especially you may look into it as well. But I'm sure this would have shown up before pregnancy. Good Luck, I know you are terribly uncomfortable with those symptoms.

Ha, I remember those days!! I never was a gassy girl and always thought it was embarrassing to pass anything. From possibly 2-5 months pregnant I couldn't stop passing gas. It was horrible, ha!! But eventually it passed and I'm back to my normal self again. Good luck.

For me it seems to be. I know a lot of women who get constipated - I guess you and I have the opposite problem. Isn't it great!
