Yes it can be awarded with such custody. The prime issue before the court to decide the custody of the child in any matrimonial dispute is the welfare of the child. The factors that will help the uninterrupted growth of the child that will help in his or her education, & over all development of the child. The income of both the parents, education background of both, the time each one can devote to the child for his or her development, post divorce relationship of each i.e. the remarriage, general character of each parent i.e. whether they are having good moral character & not indulging in any immoral or illegal activities etc are the various factors that the court look into before granting custody of the child. The age of the child & his or her personal preference for which parent is also taken in account. Very young child is usually given to the mother but even a child or tender age can be given to the father if the mother is unable to provide good for the child or she is leading immoral life.

Need more information to be able to answer with anything worth being called advice , what do you mean custody of the minor child 6+ in favour of the father? did you take a vote?

In India a Father has no right!!!!
The damn Woman Biased Legal and Judicial Sysem of India doesn't even bother of the good or the bad of he child or the father, be it a boy or a girl the cour sees to it that the child is with the mother however bad she and her family is. Till 5 come what may the court makes the kid stay with the mother and by then the kid is fed with enough poison agasinst the father that the child would only speak against the father.
If the Father gets the visitation rights the Mother files a 498A or a DV and attacks the Father and also after before and after each meet the child is told a lot of wrong things against the Father.
An Alianted Father whose 4yrs old son is being treated by his ?wife and her family with Liquor, destroying his life and yet can only sit asnd watch and do nothing!!!

Father may seek custody of child if that is 6 yr.

he can be given to any one who will provide enough documents to prove that they can give better future to there kid
