My Father gave my teenage daughter an iMac and he must have set it to limit what she can do. We can get online but can't download anything and have very limited use on sites such as myspace. I don't know anything about Macs as I have windows XP. don't know much about that either lol

Another way would be to Erase and Install Mac OS X with the Install Discs, that is if you have them.

Okay then.. get the password to the account which your father used to go onto the iMac.
Then go the system preferences, accounts.. and make it so your daughter's account isn't standard any longer, but admin.. or you can just change it to where she's not restricted to anything at all.. but at teh same time, not an administrator.
I'm not sure how to help you entirely, because i do not know which version of the iMac you have..
but overall, you need to get the password from yoru father, and go to system pref.s and edit her login-account.
