Keep in mind the Depo shot, just like other birth control, is a surge of hormones so that may be the cause of the headaches. If you have never taken birth control, it could be that it causes you headaches. I couldn't take it, gave me migraines. The bad thing about the shot is once you get it, you will have the symptoms until it is out of your system. I was told not to get the shot if I got headaches from the pills. It is your first dose though so give it a little while and see what happens. Good luck

I had the depo shot twice- put on 5 kg and it made me crank so I have the rod in my arm- it made my period opposite- bleed for 21 days and 7 days rest. I went on the pill about 3 months after that and after 5 years, in my opinion, the pill is best. It took two goes to get me the right dosage but I have had no problems on my current pill

Totally normal. Lots of women have horrible issues on the shot, I'm appalled its still being administered.
The unfortunate thing is you can't get the chemicals out of your body until they are out themselves. So you have to stick with it for twelve weeks.

When I was on it, I had raging hormones, and I had migraines and bad bad cramps...it was just not good at all. It only lasts 90 days, so if you don't like it by then try something else. Kudos to you for being safe! Don't forget the condom to protect from STD's!
