Yes you can tint with Kool Aid; I have even dyed a white tee shirt pink with red Kool Aid. and a lavender one with Grape.
Why worry about ants? The sugar dissolves anyway.
Just think of spilling Kool Aid on a carpet, and how hard it is to get out.
I*m assuming you have lots of old Kool Aid on hand and do not want the hassle of going to the store to have something tinted. Hope this answered your question.

I have to agree with answers that state Tinting is usually done at the point of purchase and adds no additional costs. Certainly as one other suggests; tubes of tint are inexpensive; even art colors in acrylic would be a better choice than food substances.
DIY is great; but can be taken too far.

I'd say no, tints are a special breed all their own.
My paint retailer will tint up a paint I have, if it is possible,(you can over-tint), for free or a nominal small charge.
A job worth doing is worth doing right.
Kiddies tint finger paint and Play-doh with Kool Aid.
I think you are doing something a bit more professional than that!!

THe cost of a tube of tint for paint is inexpensive. If you are going to spend the time and effort to paint, dont mess with home make painttints.

I agree with Dinah - If your going to experiment with Kool-Aid, at least buy the non-sugar powder packets!
To be honest, why would you do this? The price of the paint is going to be the same no matter what color you choose. The cost will be in the type and brand that you buy.
If you happen to have to have a gallon or two of paint base, bring it into a hardware store. They will probably add the color free of charge.

Koolaid will draw ants, with the sugar in it. This is the first I've heard of tinting with household items. Sounds intriguing.
