I'm going back to work soon and plan to breastfeed my baby exclusively for at least 6 months. I work from home in California for a company in Virginia. If I were to look up the laws regarding taking a "nursing break" approx. every 2 hours, would I look under California state laws or Virginia?

It is an issue because I will have to account for why I am absent for 15-20 minutes at a time. (Everything is scheduled on my calendar in half-hour incraments.)

Looks like either way you are protected to breastfeed during work.

My husband also works from home for an out of state company, and he's pretty sure it would be for the company's home state. We're not 100% sure but it makes sense to us that you would follow the VA law. I'm starring your question; I hope someone will post some info that can give a conclusive answer!

I would contact someone in the HR department for the company (If there is a HR department) and ask them what their policy is, especially if you are doing phone work that requires you to be available to consumers while on shift.
BTW...what company do you work for. Is it a legitimate work from home company?
